Day 1: Journey to Chicago
/"DAD! Are we there yet?"NO. UGH.
Truly, this was the smoothest, easiest, most peaceful car trip I have ever taken with children. EVER. Ten and a half hours door to door. (Someone has a lead foot. Gold star to anyone who identifies MISTER LEAD FOOT). Hopefully this is a harbinger of good things to come.
Notes from the road:
Jason funded the bigs' quest to win a ball in the machine. He told them if they were unable to secure said ball, they would each owe him one dollar.
He is now two dollars richer. 😉
Quote of the Day:
Jason: "I really don't like special lotion [hand sanitizer]. I don't like how it makes me feel about myself."
Injury of the Day:
While eating breakfast in the car, one boy aggressively BIT HIS OWN FINGER. Cue the hysterical screaming and crying and confusion and howling laughter from the rest of the car.
And at LAST! Arrival at Aunt Jill and Uncle Mike's house. In time for BIG FUN.
The Uncle Mike photobomb.
*Note: Shortly after this picture was taken, Landon walked with me to the car and said, "Let's get in the car. Let's go back home. Come on." This trip is going to rock his world.
Meeting the turtles.
Fabulous rope swing fun.
Cheers to strawberry shortcake!
And introducing...THE MIXED UP SUPERHERO BAND!
Enjoying our own American Ninja Warrior!
Abby. In her doggie swaddle thunderstorm gear. She is also drugged and is actually exhibiting symptoms of the munchies.
Up next....
5:30 am wake up call to head to the airport. RV living awaits. Bring it.
